A Hero In Our Family
I wanted to record a quick video to acknowledge and truly thank a dear friend, Dave Sanderson - one of the many heroes from the “Miracle on the Hudson”.
This is a perfect example of how being in a strong state can impact and even save lives. Thank you, Dave, for being an inspiration.

But I met Dave again few years later at a Date with Destiny.. and he remembered me..as if it was yesterday….Dave is one of the most humblest…. dedicated…. and Genetically coded person for having the Biggest heart… any one could met…. I have been hoping to be able to speak to you in person over the past few years, but unfortunately i have not had the opportunity to do so… I don’t know if you remember but 2 years ago you would have seen a big 6 ft rabbit at DWD at the Gold Cost in Australia… that was me… for a lifetime I have had and still have a problem with making physical contact with people… you might say this was my way of reaching out for help… unfortunately the opportunity has been and gone… i would like to thank you for all the learning over the past 5 years… there have been some good times and some bad … but overall i am a happier person for it.

You are so right on - EVERYONE has got a hero inside!
My girlfriend was up flying from Sweden to Denmark - a short trip, but in really bad conditions - at the exact same time I heard about the plane coming down in the hudson. As she has a fear of flying, I knew she would be scared s…les both during the trip but also long after she got home. She got home safe - of course - flying is still the safest way to travel - and we spoke about what had happened in US. We watched the news online in disbelief and mourned at, what we first thought was a tragic accident - a couple of hours later in the middle of the night we heard that everybody survived the crashlanding and couldn’t believe it. It is such an astonishing act the pilot has performed - that guy truly has to know everything there is to know about flying that specific plane to maneuver it the way he did! So here’s a big big hug from Denmark to your friend Dave, who not only saved a heck of a lot of people, demonstrated how to manage his state and afterwards showed an heroic focus, determination and leadership - but also at the same time, probably gave people with a fear of flying - like my girlfriend - a new perspective on what is actually possible with the right person behind the wheel!
And to you my friend - this blog is the exact right tool to communicate these days! Keep the videos coming, they are spreading a lot of positive vibes in my community!

Great testimonial Tony, thank you so much. In such a critical situation there was not too much time to think or to program his own actions, if Dave acted this way it was only because he “programmed” himself to do so by a lifetime of self-discipline, CANI and accumulation of many tiny efforts to improve his character. This is the lesson we all must learn: daily discipline and tiny efforts is what finally make us and drive our behaviour when the moment of test arrives. As it happened, this can save not only our own life but also many other people’s lives !

As a volunteer crew member at many East Coast events, I met Dave several times. He is a strong character and has a rock solid bsae of ethics.
Following an incident on stage at DAR Hall in Washington, I talked with Dive and he was very informative about taking control both with individuals and with crowds. He is an inspiration to all of the volunteer crews trhat I have enjoyed sharing the Robbins Experience.
His heroism on the plane is truly a reflection of one of your tenets: Always stay in the “gym”, meaning to continually practice being in the moment, improving and getting closer to your core.
Dave’s actions continue to inspire. There are many heroes in this rescue and everyone doing what they are good at produced an extraordinary outcome.

Each and every one of s a form of Dave in us. The thing is, you won’t know, or maybe realize it, until you you are the certain situation. Things may look the bleakest at that moment but you somehow feel, deep down inside, that your own special quality, trait, or skill has come together with whatever it the situation is and it is your time to shine. Not to shine in a pompous, selfish way but to shine in knowing that God has placed you in that special place, at that certain time, when you, and only you, can show that humanity - way deep down in some cases- is good, caring, and compassionate. That is the moment in which, and the stuff that, heroes are made of. Everyone could be that hero, just don’t let it pass you by when that time comes, just always do what you can do whenever you can because that could be the moment the hero will come out in you.

Interestingly, the media has not picked up on the fact that just 2 days prior to this crash landing the news was bragging that statistics were showing that there had been no loss of human life due to commercial aircraft accidents in the past 2 years ~ and that statistic continues to grow! Great story and a great guy. However, the pilot, in addition to engineering a miraculous landing was the last man off the plane. He went up and down the aisles twice making sure everyone was off before he, in fact, was the last man off the plane.

Some of us have large families, others have the small ones, and some have themselves but all of us in TR community, thanks to a beautiful heart of Tony who once envisioned the ideal family situation, have our family on his site. In that family we have learned to walk again by speaking a new language of our hearts, by using a new vocabulary of awareness, thoughtfulness, sensitivity, gentleness, kindness. Here, in that family we remembered all the empowering, encouraging, supportive, creative words by getting permission to use them through the examples of our Big Man walking on fire, dancing with fears, smiling at doubts, facing challenges with courage, loving with heart and living with passion. We had not known it was possible to walk on water though, not until the Hudson Miracle happened. Now when one of the best of us, Dave did it we all know that we can.
We can help others while ourselves in danger, we can reach out to those who needs our hands, we can remember this day as the Day when everything went right: from the right pilot landing the plain on the right spot in Hudson waters, to the right effort of all rescuers, and the right attitude of calm and collected individuals who helped others, to almost being at the right place and right time if it meant to have happened, of all the survivors. Human spirit makes us say the right words and do the right deeds, it can win any battle, and that one was won. I take a liberty to say from all hearts of TR family that we are grateful.

I’ll take this opportunity to thank you, Tony. I’ve never met you, but read your books and listened to your tape programs starting in 1995. Over the years, your inspiring words have taught me many things but most importantly never to give up. This was put to the test when my son fell into into hard drug addiction. I kept affirming there must help and I took action. It took 4 years and many false starts but in the end we found a very unconventional place in Peru. Long story short : he went for 9 months, learned to speak Spanish in the deal and has now been back for 18 months and is fine.

It is great to hear stories like this one. I have worked with emergency services for the last 20 years or way to often, there are many “unsung heroes” amongst us that we never hear about. More often, they are just everyday people doing what they know is right such as Dave did! People like you and Dave bring inspiration to those of us working every day!

Hi Dave - What an awesome experience - as I watched tv last night and they continued to say that everyone stayed calm - I wondered who was the person or persons who helped lead that group and help them stay calm - Amazing - Now I know, it was you! We just never know when we are going to be called on to lead..and in this case it was to save lives! God Bless You!

I was so emotional about this story and just felt so grateful and so proud of the human spirit. Dave is one of many incredible heroes that day how put others before themselves, followed their heart and did the right thing.
